Access and MS SQL ?

Access 2K.

Using transactions - What are the differeces whether the data is linked to
SQL or access??? Are their things that are supported in one and not the
other, or other differences?

Only very simple, single level transactions are available on linked
ODBC tables. You can't read after you have written, (until the
transaction is completed), and you may get conflicts with any open
forms.

Jet Transactions on ODBC linked tables are irritating, dispiriting,
and have limited functionality.
