Access and Permission

Hi

I set up user and group access in Access test database thinking I was
amending only this one but all databases on my system (hard drive and
network) have been amended with the changes. How do i solve this without
having to revert to the unsecured file.

Also the access rights are only showing on my pc no one elses how do i
overcomes this.

Apparently you have modified system.mdw instead of defining a new workgroup
file for associating with the specified database.

You have modified the default "system.mdw" Workgroup file using the
Workgroup Admin tool. When you apply security you should leave "system.mdw"
intact and create your own custom Workgroup (mdw) file. Move your
"system.mdw" to another location (re-name it too) and re-instate the default
"system.mdw" - AIUI Access 2000 and later will re-create "system.mdw" if it
fails to find it on start-up.

adding and omitting nothing. (Perhaps the Access Security FAQ, often
referenced in this newsgroup.) You will never get it right, otherwise.
