This is a weird one for me and I'll try to provide as
much info as possible. I hired someone to create a
utility for me to parse RTF docs and move the information
into an Access 2000 table. I had 3 test versions and one
final version of his app on my computer (I believe the
app was written in VB with Access 2000 DB backend). I
wanted to remove them all because there was another
version coming and I had too many refs of this utility on
my program list. I went into Add and Remove Programs and
removed them all. However, now Access will not work. I
double-click one of my shortcuts and I get this
message: "Cannot open a database created with a previous
version of your application." This is an Access 97 DB,
but I always could open it. I open another DB by opening
Access 1st and then try to open the table in it, I get
this message: "Unknown". I open Access and open other
DBs manually and they don't work. I open another DB and
open a form and try to click the Design View button and
it goes to design mode for a split second and then goes
back to Form View. Unbelievably weird. I've never seen
this before. I uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2000
and it did not help. When I was uninstalling one of the
versions of this app, I kept getting messages about files
being shared files and that deleting them may affect
other apps. I may have inadvertently deleted something.
If I remember correctly, all the files on install were
going to the System32 folder. Maybe I deleted something
from here that is needed - I don't know. I though
reinstalling office would solve the issue. I ran Norton
on Program Files and Windows folders and had nothing
detected. Also, when I try to run this guy's app, I get
the same error message as with one of the DBs - "Cannot
open a database created with a previous version of your
application." I've also gotten an error message
referring to not being able to find IMPLODE.DLL. Can
anyone help?
