Access Backup Files

When saving an "archived" database file to a cd burner,
the file becomes a "read only" file. Thus when sharing
this cd to another co-worker, the file cannot be changed
back to "archive" so the co-worker can edit the file.
There is no problem when saving to a floppy drive. But the
file became too big for a floppy. Would like to know how
to fix this problem. Thanks for your help. P.S. tried Word
and Publisher files and there are no probems with changing
the read only back to archiving from a cd. The problem is
with Access. Help!!!

Fay,

Copy the mdb file onto the hard disk, right-click the mdb file, select
Properties from the context menu, an untick the Read-only checkbox.

IIRC Windows XP makes this change automatically, whereas previous versions
do not.
