ACCESS COMBO FILLS WITH JUNK

I type a few letters and the combo doesn't just make a
suggestion--it inserts the last valid find and keeps
writing! Then scolds me for seraching for an entry that
is not part of the search list.

I've been using Access for years and never seen this until
the last week, but I can't find any unusual settings in my
options.

Unless you have some code somewhere that is doing this, I would guess that
the control is corrupted. Try deleting the combo box and putting a new one
on the form.

Sounds to me as if you have a DLL that is corrupted (I've not heard of this
effect from a virus, but seems the kind of thing that a virus writer would
do and think amusing). Do a virus scan just for safety's sake, then try to
repair your Access install. Then make sure your Access is up-to-date with
all Service Releases / Service Packs for the version you have.

It could, however, be a problem with shared Windows code that the Access
repair won't fix. If that doesn't fix the problem, post a followup here and
maybe someone will have a better suggestion.
