Access Connection String WSS

P

PeterV

I am attempting to use an existing Access database on a simple WSS
site on a SBS Windows 2003 server.

I can use a connection string in other programs eg Excel to attach to
the Access database. I have checked the data retrieval settings in
WSS.

The connection string is as follows:

Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=\\itwestts\test
\db1.mdb;User Id=admin;Password=;

Everytime I attempt a connection an error occurs.

I can connect to an SQL server db no problem. I have created a new
Access database, I have changed it's location about 5 times. I have
attempted to use a share, a mapped drive, a local drive.

All of my development is done on a terminal server which is a member
server in the SBS.

Any hints or suggestions will be most appreciated.

Dont worry folks. Problem solved

Experts Exchange had the answer. Basic prob. is that WSS does not
trust Access. Need to add it to the list of Data Providers.

Thanks

Hey Pater, having problem adding Access connection to library. Where do you
add it to the list of Data Providers?
