Access: Counting the number in each category

I am usng access to count the number and type of sample
processing errors that occur in our labortory. I set it
up in a table with each category yes/no yes defaults to
minus 1. How can I count the number that occur in each
category without multiplying the number of Yes's by minus
1 to get a positive answer?
It is similar to counting the number of true's or falses?

Yes/No and True/False both are stored as -1/0. Try the Abs function
(absolute value).

Abs(-1) = 1
