Am not a Visio user, am an Access person - - - the user makes Visio drawings
is not technical.
On the drawing are values. These values do not change the shape or size of
the image of the drawing - they are just data surrounding the image.
This data is already in an Access database and is used for reports and such.
User needs Access Table - record 1 data to appear in drawing 1
record 2 data to appear in drawing 2
If he opens drawing 2 - the current data would populate (from record 2 of
Table). So if the values in the record changed/updated in the
database...when he opens drawing 2 the current data would be seen.
My nearest analogy to this is Word Merge...where you can place fields in a
Word document (template) and source those fields from a table/query in
Access. When you open the Word document it is permanently linked to Access
and will show whatever data is currently there.
These values are not altering the shape, they are not definitions for the
image...just passive data on the document that they don't want to rekey in
every time the data changes in the database.
A "yes, piece of cake" or "no not really"....I don't have Visio and the user
is non technical so it either needs to be a vanilla embedded offering like a
Word merge. Thanks for advice,
