Access Database Security on Internet

Hello,

I don't know if I'm asking this question in the correct
area or not.

There is an access database loaded in a secure area on
the internet server. An asp page calls it and posts info
to it. The asp page can provide the username & password
to open and change the database info (with open
connection object), but how do I go about assigning a
username and password to the database? Is the username
assigned in the Access program or is it assigned with
permissions on the server/folder?

I'm using Access 2000.
