Access Database - Using Excel Spreadsheet

I have created an access database, which I need to insert an Excel
spreadsheet into - so I can then type in the data straight onto the
spreadsheet, I have set this up on a tab sheet within the database. My
problem is that once I go into Front end mode, I am unable to type data into
the spreadsheet, it appears to be locked. If I go into backend mode design
view etc, I am able to type data in with no problem. I have set the opening
on the database to open to frontend with a list of command buttons etc, Can
anyone help and tell me why I am unable to edit the spreadsheet when I am not
in backend or design ??????? Many many thanks

If you want to use Excel to enter data, you could simply enter data into
Excel, then use Access to link to the spreadsheet...

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for replying, but I need to keep the spreadsheet held within the
sub-form in the Access database, so any other users don't have to switch
between the two.

I assume that you're using ACCESS 2002 or ACCESS 2003, and have installed
the most recent updates for whichever one you're using. The ability to edit
data in a linked EXCEL spreadsheet from ACCESS has been disabled in these
updates.

I have to create a system for multiple users to enter data into an Excel
sheet, but have the data stored in an Access database. It has to lock
records being modified by another user. When a user opens sheet, it must
draw info from the database to fill the cells, and when the user closes the
sheet, the new data must be entered into the Access database. Can this be
done using a simple locking system? How much more involved is this task?
