ACCESS database

I have a XP PRO machine setup as a fileserver. Everytime I
create a database and it compacts the database, it makes a
duplicate copy and the original cannot be acessed again.
Running Access 2000. Have updated both Operating system
and Access. Turned auto compact off and will not work with
manual compacting.
Thanks

When you compact you are actually creating a new file and it will inherit the
permissions of the folder where it is created, not the permissions of the original
file from which it was created. Give the desired permissions to the folder and you
should see the problem go away.
