Access - default YesNo Checkbox doesnt work in German

I had problems with the our custom software built in Access 2003, some
default yes/no boxes were translated by my German MS Office into German
Ja/Nein and consequently not accepted by the our software, so the
software turned down. I resolved this problem by installing an English
version of MS Office.

Has anyone seen this and why would it not accept the defaults...looking
specifically for "Yes" or "No" and I take it thats not acceptable to
the German OS or Office?
