I have a folder shared via samba in my Windows workgroup as a network
drive.
I am running Windows XP Pro.
In MS Word 2003 I cannot save files to this drive, open files from this
drive or use Templates from this drive.
Whenever I try to access these files uing the file dialog pop-up in Word
2003 - as soon as I select this drive I immediately get the error message
box "Access denied".
However I CAN open Word files from this drive by browsing to them in
explorer and double-clicking on them - and I can then use CTRL-S to save
them.
Opening and saving files works OK in Excel 2003.
I have another Samba drive served from a different samba server running an
ealier version of samba.
Files from this drive are OK in Word.
(I have examined the samba server setting carefully, made them the same
etc. without any success.)
I have also tried turning my AVG firewall off - but no change.
So - some security setting for file access is being used by MS Word - but
nothing else that I have used so far.
What Word settings would cause this sort of problem
and difference in behaviour from Excel?
Any help greatly appreciated.
