Since the Vista beta Novell client became available, I installed it on my
test VISTA Business machine and can sign on to the Novell network. The
problem is getting Office files from my network drives to open, the message
is, "Access denied, contact your administrator."
I can see all the shared drives and open all the folders. While I can open
..txt and .pdf documents, none of my Microsoft Office Files 2003 or Office
2007 (saved in 2003) will.
I can't save those types of document types either, "There has been a file or
network permission error. The network connection may be lost. H:\My
Documents\TestSav.doc." I can save .txt and .pdf files without issue.
I changed the value of the GPO Network Security: LAN Manager authentication
level to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session if negotiated," as outlined in
a web document without luck.
There are no errors in my event logs and turning off the local firewall
didn't help. McAfee 8.5i doesn't give me anything and the Novell guys here
don’t know.
I can copy an Office (2003 or 2007) file from the share and open
it on my desktop. Also, if I rename it I can copy that file back to the
share.
I was thinking network permissions, or setup since this is our first Vista
machine, but why could I use Adobe and text files without an issue? Sorry
such a simple answer escapes me and any help you can give is appreciated.
It would be easier to find if text or Adobe 8 were a problem too...
