access error message when in terminal

Good Day,

Terminal users are getting this error when trying to open a access file when
it's on a shared drive.
Microsoft Access cannot open this file.
This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site

If they copy the file locally then they're able to open it. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

Ray,

From the user's point of view, is there a period ( . ) anywhere in the path
of the database they're opening? Not always, but frequently, errors like this
are caused by a security feature that was introduced with Access 2000 to
prevent opening up databases through a web-page, or otherwise through the
internet.

"Access 2000 and Access 2002 are not designed to open a database by using a
URL address. A fully qualified domain name (FQDN) address or an IP address
that includes periods ( . ) in its name is identified as in the Internet zone
and will be interpreted by Access as a URL address."

Take a look at the following articles. They're not 100% on point, but they
may give you a clue as to what's happening:

Ray,

I have had an identical problem with a database I received from another
computer. Having read the article below, I manage to resolve the problem
through the Windows Internet setting asf:

Internet Explorer->Properties->Security->Local Internet->sites
Ticked all the boxes - that by itself did not work then
In the same screen I went to "Advance" and added "file://Local Server" (no
quotation marks) to the trusted sites
That did the trick.
(Windows XP SP2, Home network, Access 2002)
