Access -> Excel: Large increase in file size

Hello,

I am using automation in Acccess to create a report in Excel that is usually
36kb when created manually. When I create the format and populate it in
Access the size bloats to a massive 3MB!!

Is this something common that someone could explain or if there is a way to
'compact' it somehow, I would greatly appreciate the help. At this file size
I would be able to store them for archiving.

Without seeing the code you're using, chances that someone can help you are
slim. Also, the Excel people tend to congregate in the excel.programming
newsgroup. I'd try asking there. Be sure to mention the VERSION of Excel, and
copy/paste the code you're using. Also describe WHAT the code is doing
(transferring data, certainly, but roughly how many rows/columns/sheets are
involved; what kind of formatting; generating any graphs or pivot tables;
inserting pictures)
