Access fields update Word Template Form Fields

Hello,

I have Access and Word 2003. In my Access database I have many fields. I'd
like to create a Word template which contains Text Form Fields and I'd like
to be able to populate these form fields using data from the Access Fields.

I'm not sure how to get started. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thinking it out on the Access side, I would create a report by attorney
which will have his total hours for each category. I want to use a Word
template because I think I can control the formatting better.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

start in Word - and follow the Merge wizard steps....I believe it is found in
'Tools' in the menu bar....

it will prompt you for the Data Source - and then you browse to the DB - and
can in fact select a Table or a Query..(..sometimes a query is better because
then you can filter out some records first - rather than use the entire
Table....)

it works fine......first set up is not quite as intuitive as could be and
often I screw it up and must start over....but that's because I only use it
now and then....once one does this routinely it is very easy and
powerful......

if you do envelopes or labels also - there is a wizard for those too....and
they would be a separate document than the business letter - - you might go
to the Office/Word forum for more help if need be.....

well you started your question with an orientation to Word with Access - and
if the document is primarily free form text - with some inserted data; then
using the Word letter merge function is best....

on the otherhand if the document is primarily data - with just some headings
and such ; then the Access Report is absolutely quicker....

either solution works and it only depends on your need. I use Access
Reports all the time and I use Word merges too.
