Access Memory usage

Jeremy Dove

When I use access it is really hogging resources.

I try to do a simple save and it takes almost 1 minute
and all I am doing is updating an input mask.

It takes a long time to load up and switch between pages.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Jeremy

Sorry Jeremy. You don't give much information to work with.

What version of Access?
What is the speed of your processor?
How much memory do you have?
What is the speed of your hard drive?
How much free space do you have on your hard drive?
How big is your database?
When was the last time you compacted your database?
Are you running over a network?
If so, what is the speed and available bandwidth?

Sorry,

The version was 2000 I have since converted to 2002. It
seems to help a little bit.
So the version is 2002
The speed of the processor varies as I have tried it on
different computers. The speed varies from 1.0 GHz to 2.8
GHz.
All the machines have a minimum 256MB.
Speed of the hard drive is the default speed of an IDE
drive.

Smallest amount of free space available is 5gb
Database size is 10mb.
I compacted within the last 3 days.

People that are actually using the database are using
network and 100mb bandwidth is available.

I seem to have most of the problem though in development
which is on my local computer.

Jeremy , good information. With that said,it makes no sense to me that it
runs slower on your computer. Are you running background tasks like a virus
checker? Sometimes they slow things down.

Something I'd try to see if it makes any difference. Create a new, empty
database. Then import all of the objects into it. Sometimes this will clean
up internal things that Repair/Compact doesn't fix.

Also, a couple of other things to look at are
