access privilege in Word

I need to get access privilege in order to modify some charts that I created.
I don't know how I lost access privileges. I thought I had permission to
modify any file I created.

If you're trying to open files that are stored on a CD, then that
is the problem. Copy the files from the CD to your hard drive,
open them on the hard drive, and remove the "read only" attribute
using the File->Properties menu in Word.
