access privileges

Windows xp Professional sp2
Single user system with administrative access.

When I wish to open a word document I get:

Word cannot open Document: User does not have access privileges.

Thankyou for allowing me the privilege of using this newsgroup to get help
with this problem.

If you are running Norton AntiVirus, try disabling its Office Plug-in.

Trying to open a file that is stored on a CD may cause this error
message. Copy the file from the CD to your hard drive, then open the
copy that is on your hard drive.

I'm having the same problem, with the addition I cannot move or delete the
file as well.

The Norton fix did not work for me either

No, you can't move or delete from a CD. But can you COPY the file from
the CD to your hard drive?

The DOC object is not on a CD it is on my secondary hard drive D:\.......
