Access "Publish It with Word" creating varying line breaks

We're using Access 97 and Word 2003, but this may also relate to other
versions. From an Access report, we click "Publish it with MS Word." It
creates a Word document as desired. However, the new Word document has line
breaks in different places when produced on one computer than when produced
on another. And the line breaks on one wreak havoc in the tabbed-format Word
document.

Since the line breaks vary from one computer to another, apparently it's not
a problem in the database itself. It seems that it must be some kind of
setting in Access or Word that's causing the variation in line breaks. But
everything I've checked seems the same on both computers.

Any idea what would cause the line breaks to be different from one system to
another? Help and Knowledge Base haven't helped me, so I'm hoping someone
here can!

Do the two computers have the same default printer? Word is very dependent
on the active printer for formatting purposes.

Thank you for suggesting that! It's the kind of thing I think is likely the
problem.

No, the two computers do not have the same default printer. However, I
changed the default printer on the computer where it's working correctly to
match the one on the other system where it's not working correctly. And it
still works correctly on the one and not on the other.

Is there anything else that might cause the different link breaks?

Hi Kathy,

Among the other possible causes are
-different printer drivers or versions of printer driver (for the same
printer). This can happen if the two computers have different versions
of Windows. It can also happen if one is using PostScript and the other
a different printer control language (e.g. PCL).

-different fonts or versions of fonts between the two machines

-different printer driver settings (e.g. one thinks it's using A4 paper
and the other Letter paper; or the settings that control when the
printer uses its built-in fonts and when fonts are to be downloaded from
the computer).
