Access queries missing when setting datasource

I have a Word document that does a Mail Merge with its
datasource being in an Access database. The datasource is
a query in the database. When I "find data source" to
setup the mail merge, I get a list of all the tables in
the database but only some of the queries. Naturally, the
query I want is among the missing. I am using Word 2000,
Access 2000 and Windows XP Professional.
Anyone have the solution?
Thanks

This problem is more typical of Word 2002 and later, when the solution is
usually "go back to connecting via DDE". But that's what Word 2000 already
uses by default to connect. I'm surprised you are encountering it in Word
2000 unless you are connecting using ODBC, in which case queries that
reference user-defined functions (in Access VBA) and possibly some others
would not be listed. This might happen if you checked "Select method" in the
Open Data Source dialog and chose the ODBC option rather than the DDE
option, or if you clicked "MS Query" (which always uses ODBC).

If that is not the problem, are there any other distinctive features shared
by the missing queries? e.g. do they reference external data sources, use
SQL keywords not used by the visible queries, etc.?
