Access Report Function Fails

I am running Officce Pro 2003 on XP Pro with all current updates. On a DB
that has not changed for more than 6 months, suddenly any attempt to run a
report causes Access to crash. I created a new DB with one dataless table
with 5 fields. WHen I aatempted to create a new report, Access crashed. I
tried uninstalling Acces and re-installing it with no success. It seems to
me that some system dll perhaps is corrupted. Anyone have any ideas?

amoss,
You didn't indicate if everything else in the db is OK... just the reports fail (design
and preview).
If so, check your default printer definition. No printer, or a printer without updated
XP drivers can cause reports to fail to preview or go into design mode, and possibly
crash.

Al Campagna,
Thank you. You are exactly correct. The default printer had somehow been
changed to use the fax software, that is why Access so gracefully died. You
would think by now after all these years and all these revisions of the MS
Office product, that they would at least be able to produce a meaningful
error message in such situations. In this particular case in fact, I think a
choice of selecting another or a new printer, upon printer initialization
failure, would be easy to implement. Anyway, I thank you for providing the
clue to the solution.
