Access report

I'm using Microsoft OFfice Pro - Access. I had created a report that did
exactly
what I wanted it to on my old machine which was running MS 2002. I just
switched to a new machine using MS 2003.

The report that was working now gives an error message which I try to do a
print
preview saying

(exclamation point) Undefined function "left" in expression

I am using an expression created in a Query. I have redone the expression
using the "build" feature and clicked on the left function. It looks the
same as it
did before. I am not using any of the date() or page() expressions.

This is driving me CRAZY.

Partially answering my own post, I re-examined the error msg and clicked help.
It suggested that a SQL statement was the problem. I searched the SQL
version on the query and found the word "LEFT" but only in the
FROM tablename1 LEFT JOIN tablename2 but that doesn't look like an
expression to me.

Still need some words of wisdom.

That PC has a missing reference.
Open any module in Design view (or click Ctrl + G).
On the Tools menu, click References.
Click to clear the check box for the type library or object library
marked as "Missing:."

An alternative to removing the reference is to restore the referenced
file to the path specified in the References dialog box. If the
referenced file is in a new location, clear the "Missing:" reference
and create a new reference to the file in its new folder.

Thanks to FRED - I'd never in a million years have found that problem although
I remember exactly when it happened.
