Access Runs Extremely Slow

Hi,

I have Access 2002 (front-end and back-end) running on
Windows 2000 Server. I have mix nodes on the network
(win98,ME,2000,etc). Access response time is very long
and some of the employees are complaining. :(

I recently installed Win 2000 Srv. I had it running on
Win 98 earlier, but Win 98 is not a good OS for a server.
I would have to reboot the computer at least once a day.
The funny thing is the Access program ran fine on Win 98.
My only options are to either revert back to Win 98 (LAST
RESORT) or upgrade EVERYONE (8 nodes) on the network to
Win 2000 Pro or Win XP Pro.

Not sure why upgrading everyone to win2000 will help? Why would that help?

Anyway, the real thing you need to do check out is the performance faq at

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/performancefaq.htm

9 out 10 times, all you have to do is to keep the connection open, and
performance will return the previous levels. Hence, just open some recordset
or form attached to a table.

Hi Albert,

The only reason why upgrading all the nodes to something higher than WinME
would be to keep everything on the same Filing System (NTFS). I believe
that if all the systems have NTFS running then there would be any changes
during a use from the server to a node running Win98 and another one running
WinME. Thanks for your response anyway. :)
