ACCESS Runtime Versions

Dave Munday

Thankful for any help

I am running Office XP on my school network with no problems.

I have been asked to install a legacy application which needs the Access
2000 Runtime Installation

I have intsalled the Access Runtime into a seperate folder and run all then
Office Updates from the MS website.

The Legacy application works fine, but any attempt to open an exisitng
application by clicking on the file fails as it is trying to reinstall
offcie components.

When access is started before a file is opened the application repairs it
self and exisitng databases can be opened.

I then have problems with my legacy application

I guess the short version is ...

is it possible ti run both the XP/2000 runtime version son the same
workstation and if so how is the best way to implements this

Thanks

Dave

MS advice for installing multiple versions of Office, or its component apps,
is to install earlier version first, update, prior to installing later
version. Perhaps the same criteria applies for the runtime files?
If you are using the Packageing Process/Wizard perhaps you are also
installing various Access system files, which then cause the problem with
Accessxp.
By running Accessxp, which repairs itself, perhaps these sys files are then
being replaced?
Anything here help?
