Access security

Hi
Please excuse my ignorence, but I'm new to Access.
When opening an Access database, I am prompted for a password. When I click OK, I am then prompted if I wish to open the database

Details
- my own home machine, so I'm not trying to get into somebody elses
- Security setting is Lo
- OS: Windows X
When I try to create a database query in Excel from Access, I am told I'm not authorized
Any help would be appreciated

What version of Access? How are you opening the database - via a desktop
shortcut, or via Windows Explorer, or File-Open within Access? Are you
being prompted for a username/password, or just a password?
