access stays in memory after macro is finished running

I'm having difficulties with Access stayin open in memory
after I'm done running a macro. Any suggestions as to
what might be the reason?

Usually this results because an object that you've created via code is not
destroyed by you when you're done with it.

But, you'll need to post more info before anyone can even begin to guess
about a possible answer.
