Access Stops Responding

I have had an access 2000 database running perfectly for years. I upgraded to windows 2000 professional. The database stops responding when I enter new information. I made a new database with the wizard to test and when I try to add new information it stops responding. I have reinstalled 98SE on a spare drive so that I may continue the use of the databse in the meantime. Are there permission problems in windows 2000?

How much RAM and what is the speed of the machine?
Have you gone away and left it for a while to see if it does come back?
Even on a relatively fast machine with a lot of RAM doing something "clever"
can get a not responding message that lasts a while, however Access is still
chugging along.
