Access sucking all CPU cycles, not releasing CPU

Ninkasi

We are using Access 97 for the front end of a program and it is taking up all
the CPU resources on one of our pc's. All others pcs running the same
programs are fine. This program installs a runtime version of Access if
access is not installed. I have uninstalled the program(and runtime version)
I have installed full version of access 97 and reinstalled the problem app.
Task manager still same, programs not responding and CPU maxed out in
access.exe.

Any ideas

if it is only happening on 1 machine then i would suspect
something other than access. maybe hardware.
how much memory does the machine have compared to the
others
has the cpu been tested.

it's a 3 mo. old Dell GX270, 512ram and I have not tested the CPU. I have
not run any diagnostics on it yet.

Access 97 is notorious for doing this. It's actually pretty graceful
about giving up cycles if they're needed by another program. The task
manager shows 99% usage but it's not actually burning up your CPU.

This should be happening on all PCs with A97. But it should stop
after 10 or 20 seconds.
