If you're a developer, or even "just" a programmer, you dont EVER say "Ive
just had my version of access upgraded". You're supposed to be in control of
that, even and also if you're just an end-user.

You're References are merely stuffed up. About the most common problem in
Access. If you don't know what that means, ask your company's IT department or
IT supplier.

What do you mean? "Ive just had my version of access upgraded" (?)

Chris ;-)

(Oh, sorry. New Zealand Government? Maurice Williamson should be able to help,
or is he the wrong party?)

(I've just had my disallowed NZ fishing areas UPGRADED! What to do...much more
important than damn Access...)

Chris,

May I point out that often people do not have a choice on what happens on their
work computers. I've been "upgraded" a few times by my IT department. I can
scream and shout and run in circles, but the bottom line may be that I get
"upgraded" whether I want to be or not. Sometimes, you just gotta live with
what others decide.

Of course you may!

You may also have noticed I had an opportunity to give my own "government"
some advice. With a grimaced grin, of course.

(I also answered the question. You didn't, presumably because my advice was
correct)

Chris ;-)

Not personally involving me (just they may have my software amongst many),
very large firms ie justifying an IT department (in my experience) make every
attempt to test a Windows upgrade (any upgrade) off-line, beforehand. OK, I've
had calls too where the on-line upgrade messed up, but at least the IT
department made reasonable test efforts.

Unfortunately, in one case (a private firm with >100PC's), they upgraded all
the PC's live with the SAME profile/quick upgrade. So if one PC had the
problem, they all did!

Thanks for pointing out your perfectly correct advice. I think my purpose was
"controlled upgrades", of course I can't prevent them either. Chris
