Access to Project Server from MS Project 2003 (in a different Doma

I have the following setup:
- Project Server 2003/ Sharepoint Portal Server/ SQL Server on one hefty box.
- Project Server box is located in Domain A.
- I have users in Domain B as well.
- No trust exist between Domain A and B
- Users in Domain B have logins in Domain A for access (access used for file
server purpose).
- I have created local users thru MS Office Project Web Access - The same
users exist on the project Server locally.
- Users in Domain B have MS Project Prof. 2003.

Problem:
- Users in Domain B, cannot connect to MS Project Server thru MS Project
Prof 2003 even though..
- I am specifying connect using MS Project Server account

My connections fail every time.

In Domain A, I can start my MS Project Prof 2003 and login using the same
users name (of domain B) and no problem occurs.

The event log on the server, shows failed logins for Domain B users -- but
here is the funny thing
-- The event log shows that the user tried to login using the ID from domain
A. Even though I have specified to use Project Server authentication, the MS
Project Pro 2003 submits the domain access.

Any ideas??

Thank You.

Hello Amit,

What you are trying to do will work (with a couple of changes). I am
providing support to a client through a very similar configuration.

You don't want to use local authentication.

Start by ensuring that your username and password in both domains are the
same. For example if the username is Segrest and the password is XYZ1, the
accounts should be setup as DomainA\Segrest and DomainB\Segrest. The
passwords for both accounts should be set to XYZ1.

Setup the PWA accounts to use Windows Authentication with the DomainA account
details.

The first time a user authenticated into DomainB connects to PWA, they will
get a login prompt. The DomainB user should enter their DomainB\Username and
password. Life will also be easier if they check the little box that saves
their password on their local machine.

It works... Call me if you need help.

Bob,

Thanks for you post in the newsgroup yesterday.

I am wondering if I can ask you for more details. The users in Domain B
have no problems using the PWA and logging in with their (login names created
on the Project Server locally).

My problems are actually with MS Proj Professional 2003 (software)
connecting to MS Project Server 2003. That is when everything gets muddy.
My IIS configuration, Directory Security-- has Integrated Windows
Authentication as well as Basic Authentication checked.

From my machine in Domain A, I can login as DomainB user without any problem
(thru Project Professional 2003) into Project Server 2003, using Enterprise
options and then specifying the Project Server accounts.
The problems seems to be when DomainB user tries to login (project Prof 2003
to Project Server 2003) From Domain B machine.
Then it seems that the Project Professional 2003 does not use the criteria
that is specified in the Enterprise options but instead sends local
authentication information or tries to use the DomainA

I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank You.
