Access to the database problem when editing

P

Paul Fenton

I'm working on the Front End of an A2K database, modifying forms, VB
code, testing, etc. There is only one workstation here (mine) and the
back end is on another workstation on the network.

I can start Access fresh, open a module or object for edits, compile
and save it, etc. Now, if I reopen any module or object and try to
make additional edits/modifications, I get the message:

"You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time. Your
design changes will not be saved." And I can't save this subsequent
edit or modification.

I have to close and reopen Access and start from the beginning. It
seems that as soon as I run the program, something's going on that's
freezing me out. No one else is using the program here.

Windows XP on the front end machine, Vista on the server.

This is something that's just cropped up recently and I have no idea
what I've changed to be causing it. I've de-compiled, repaired and
compressed, re-compiled, etc. Still have the problem.

I typically create a shorcut with the /excl command line switch.
