Access User Securities

S

sam

I am wanting to set up user access (limited) for my group. I currently
have the administrative access and have saved it to our network drive
but when my users attempt opening it from the drive they receive an
error message "records can not be read; no read permission on "all
order information".
I have been using "help" and also two seperate books for access and I
can not get past this...what needs to be undone? done? or is it saved
incorrectly on the network . I am looking for step by step directions
since my head is spinning with this....
I want only one group to have insert/edit abilities to the form. The
rest of the application I want only the admin to have access to. I
also need to have several people logged on at once (same group if
possible) with the abilities to insert information with out sharing
difficulties.

Help!!!!

Hi Sam,

Access user level security is complicated , and you have to do it just
right: otherwise it will be ineffective - at worst you could even lock
yourself out of your own database. The most comprehensive information
source I know of is the Security FAQ. Study it thoroughly, and make
certain that you have a backup copy of the database.

If you're using Access 2003, there's a detailed discussion and
explanation of user level security in John L Viescas's new book "Access
2003 Inside Out" (among lots of other good stuff: John is a respected
MVP).

The following links should take you to the necessary information:
