access v2 and 2000

im wondering is it possible to install thease versions of access on the same
machine, with out affecting version 2 in any way the reason being is we use
ticket software for our tills and i dont want to mess it up!! and how can i
make sure that my 2002 mdbs open in the correct version?

There shouldn't be any problems, as long as you install them into separate
subdirectories. Since Access 2.0 was a 16-bit version, it doesn't use the
registry, and I don't believe there are any DLLs in common between the two.

See if you can work with what I have at
http://members.rogers.com/douglas.j.steele/FixRegistry.html to get the
correct version. You'll need to make changes, of course. Access 2002 would
be .10, not .8

thanks for that ill have a go at it not before i do some backing up though

but if a user double clicks on an mdb file will this reg change make sure
windows opens the correct version of access -just double checking

No, that registry fix won't open the database in the correct version of
Access: it'll open all MDB files using Access 2002. The registry doesn't
have the smarts to interrogate the file: all it goes by is the file
extension.

If you want to be able to open in the appropriate version, you'll need to
purchase something like David Aylott's AccVer

http://www.fmsinc.com/products/startup
