Access Wizards Freezes

I updated to MS XP Office and evidently the updates to
Access 2002 now causes the all wizards to freeze. All
command buttons stop functioning including "Cancel". My
only option is to terminate MS Access via the Task
Manager.

Also, every time I launch Access, it initiates "Installing
Components for Microsoft Access".

Any ideas? Are the two problems related?
