Access Wizzard 2000 not working

K

Ken W.

Hello,
I have Office 2000 Premium. I was trying to use the
wizzard to create a project. The wizzard just hangs up
and doesn't create any forms, tables, reports.... I have
used this on other computers with no problem. I have
tried repair, uninstalling and reinstalling with no
luck. Everthing has been working ok over all these
years. I do have dBase 2000 installed, could it be a
conflict?? Maybe the BDE????
Thank you for the help.

First make sure that you have Office 2000 SR-1, this has been out for
along time. There are also Service Packs 2 and 3 but I think the problem
may
have been resolved with SR-1.

You might also look at the following Knowledge base article:

Q242218 - ACC2000: Nothing Happens When You Start an Access Wizard
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q242/2/18.asp

Also check for and remove the Small Business Customer Manager. This is
known to cause issues with the wizards. From the start menu look for
Office 2000 Small Business Tools. If it is there you use Control Panel,
Add/Remove programs to remove it. Then run detect and repair from the Access
help menu.

Last but not least, try using Regsvr32 to re-register DAO360.dll

Hi Sandra,
I have installed Service pack 1 and no change. I followed
the KB article and the files were installed correctly.
Part of the article stated uninstalling disk 2, my
version has only 1 disk and has never asked for a second
disk? I do not have installed Small Business Customer
Manager. And I ran Regsvr32 for the DAO360.dll, which
ran fine. The problem still happens. The wizzard starts
then goes back to access without creating the tables and
forms.....
Any other ideas?
Thanks again,
Ken

Hi Ken,

So no errors, the wizard just fails silently?

Verify that you have at least *SR-1* installed (Go to Help->About). The
current level is actually *SP-3*. You might also want to visit the Office
Update site and get all the updates for Office 2000
(http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/category.aspx?CategoryID=CD0102257
71033&CTT=4&Origin=CD010224971033).

Hopefully, getting all the updates will resolve the problem. Post back if
you still have trouble.

Sandra, I too have this problem but with a different twist
on a Windows 2000 os.
If the user logs on as himself the Wizards do not work. If
anyone else logs on to that computer the wizards work. If
the same user logs on to another 2000 computer the wizards
work. We are running Access 2000 and all service packs
have been installed. The frustrating part is this user is
my manager.

Hi Ken,

I found a couple more articles that *might* pertain to your issue - I'm
really just fishing now and I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help. Check
these links - the last one is a link to all the KB articles I found that
match on "Create Project Wizard". Maybe you'll see one that is more on
target.

If these don't help you might want to repost in the
microsoft.public.access.adp.sqlserver group since your issue is really
specific to an ADP and the folks that pozt there are more likely to have
seen the problem.

Regardless, let me know how it goes

ACC2000: Make MDE/ADE Operation Fails Silently When Target Disk Is Full
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;207886

ACC: Access May Stop Responding When You Try to Create an MDE File or an ADE
File
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814858&Product=acc2000

Big List of KB Articles
http://support.microsoft.com/search...&maxResults=150&Titles=false&numDays=&InCC=on

Sorry I've not been more help on this :-(

Hi again Sandra,

Thanks for your continuing help.
Yes I have downloaded all the updates from microsoft. The
access version is "9.0.6926 SP-3".
There are no error messages. When I open - new - and pick
a database project (anyone). Access asks where to save the
project and when I click ok to the folder I get the box
that the title bar states the "project new : Database" with
the objects and create .... On the bottom status bar it
lists in the left corner setting up wizzards... with a
status time bar. The bar goes right away to 3/4 and stops.
That all it does and no other windows or programs are active.

Thanks, Ken

Hi Eric,

Is your issue related to all wizards or just the Create New Project wizard?

Since it is specific to one user I would suspect that you have a problem
with permissions - take a look at this article and make sure that this user
has permissions on the folders where these files are located:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;208307&Product=acc2000
