access won't link tables

I can't link Sql Server 2005 tables (or any tables) in my Access 2003 on Win
XP SP2. When I select "File >> Get External Data >> Link Tables >> ODBC
Databases", the file dialog disappears, but else nothing happens. The ODBC
popup never appears, as it should. The ODBC popup works fine elsewhere, like
from Control Panel and Excel; I can create a data source to the Sql 2k5
database, etc. Can you please advise?

FYI George found the answer to this in the post from 5/16/2006 titled "Unable
to link tables in MDB file using ODBC ". The problem is the Norton Anit-Virus
Office Plug-In, which must be disabled.
