Access Word through a database

I tried posting this yesterday but for some reason was unsuccessful so am
trying again.

I'm not sure this can be answered in this discussion group but need to start
somewhere. We have an internal database that we use for recruitment. We would
like to be able to plug in a Word document name and have the database search
for that document (there are many) and retrieve certain info within that Word
document.

Is this possible? Has anyone heard or done this? If so, any direction would
be greatly appreciated.
