Access XP Data Access Pages

Catherine

I am creating a database with Access XP for someone else that needs to have Internet access. I have created the access data pages, but I saved them on my hard drive because I don't understand how to set up the UNC and I don't have a web server. I need to upload the pages through an FTP or HTTP server and feel insecure about how to do that so that it finds the database properly once I've installed it on my client's machine. It will be a stand-alone desktop version with web access to the database.

I also don't know how to package a database with data access pages so that the data access pages will reference the database properly once I've installed it on someone else's machine. (I anticipate this is the UNC I mentioned above.)

Also, I read a post on the Access Developer Internet newsgroup that stated that Access cannot connect through FTP or HTTP to the database. How, then, can I set up the database to communicate with the data access pages?

Please help me out. THANK YOU!

Hi there,

This should tell you everything you need to know:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?
url=/library/en-us/dnacc2k2/html/deploydap.asp

It's really only possible if you have your own web server
running IIS as it's going to be rather a long shot for the
server provided by an ISP to meet the requirements.
