We have created a database where several front ends interface with a
common back end. I and the other person developing the database have
Office XP pro installed. Some users have Office XP Pro, and some have
Office XP 2003 Pro. This seems to be causing a problem. Before we went
with the front end/back end scenario we found that the databases we
created with XP Pro could be used on machines with XP 2003 Pro, but
that once modified on a XP 2003 Pro machine the database was "quirky"
on an XP Pro machine, but still worked as expected on XP 2003 Pro
machines. It seemed that splitting the database was the solution.
However in recent weeks our users have begun extensive work in the
database, and we've run into very odd problems that we can't
replicate on our machines. The only variable is the different Office
versions.
Is anyone familiar with this issue, and if so is there a known
workaround? I hesitate to suggest upgrading all our Office XP Pro
machines to Office XP 2003 Pro, not knowing if that will resolve our
issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance.
