Access XP Reports and Access 2003

I have my first user set up as purely Windows XP with Access 2003. The
report functionality is not working in Access 2003. Even the simple code to
open the report throws and error message. From the database container,
clicking on any report for a print preview does not work. I have heard
something about the permissions on a network printer need to be changed for
Access 2003 to open an Access XP system. This morning, I installed just
Access 2002 XP on the user's system. Now everything works in Access 2003.
What is there in Access 2002 - is is a .dll, is it a file in the common
directory, that is allowing printing functionality now? This is not a
solution moving forward, to just install both versions. Anyone else had this
experience?

It certainly would appear that something did not install correctly when you
installed Access 2003. It might be something that would be corrected, if you
tried a reinstall to "repair" the installation. It might also be something
that is replaced in one of the updates or service packs -- I believe, so
far, there has been one SP for Access 2003.

Because the problem cleared up when Access 2002 was installed, it would
appear that it is some component that is shared between Access 2002 and
2003 -- I suspect there are many, and it would be futile to try to determine
which.

It certainly is not a "feature" of Access 2003. Try installing it on a
different machine, apply all the SP's and updates, and if you still have the
same problem, call Microsoft tech support -- if it is a "defect", there is
no charge (but you will probably have to deposit payment first, and then
have it credited back if they determine it is a defect).

Hi:

Just wondering if you were able to find any resolution to this? I too am
having the same problem. Repairing XP office 2003 does not make any
difference. I also get an exceptional error if I tried to open the VB editor.
