I have HP pavilion-6830 with ME operating system. With
Access'97 program I am not able to open Access 2002 file
(in A drive) with mdb extension. Every time I try to open
the file I get (error3343)a message saying, "unrecognized
database format". Please help as I am badly stuck for
doing some assignment at my school. Thanks.

This message can come about in two ways:

- The database was created in a version later than Access97; if you
have a database originally created in 2000, 2002 or 2003, Access97
cannot read it. These later versions do have a provision (Tools...
Convert... Convert to Earlier Version) to save a database in A97
format.

- More worrisome: the database can be corrupted so badly that Access
not only can't open it, but can't even recognize it.
