on my computer but don't know which software pkg to buy.
someone told me i need ms office professional 2000 full-

You can purchase Office Pro XP (the next version after 2000; I'd
recommend it, AccessXP seems to be more stable than 2000). This gives
you Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint in addition to Access. I'd
presume you'll be using Word and Outlook anyway, and perhaps Excel so
this may be the best deal.

You can also purchase Access as a standalone product. Your Works
should qualify to get it at the upgrade price.
