When trying to enter a new record I enter the firdt field and try to enter data. A text box pops up twice to say the field cannot be updated. However after a few seconds the text box disappears and it allows me to input data as normal. This only takes a few seconds but is irritating when i have a lot of data to input

There are no other uses using the database. There are no locks on any field. The database is set to 'shared'

I have other access databases which do not have this problem but i cant see any differences in the field properties

You may just want to create a new field and then dump all the old info into that field
