On trying to open a floppy disk, an error stating cyclic rendundacy occured.
It will not let me open the disk from access, start up A drive or even copy
to another form. Is there another way to retrieve the information on the
floppy to save it or copy it elsewhere?
It's not Access that's at fault here: it's either your diskette drive
(diskette drives are fast becoming obsolete, and IME recently built
ones are VERY cheap and correspondingly unreliable) or the diskette
itself that is damaged.
Try reading the diskette on somebody else's computer; if you're very
lucky it's your drive, and the other drive may be better or may have a
different head alignment which might be able to read the disk.
Or, the diskette may be sufficiently damaged that this data will not
be recoverable.
See if you can get another copy of this database (I presume it's a
database since you mention opening from Access), on another diskette
or (probably safer) on a CD or by email (zip it first). Or, check the
various hardware forums. There are disk-recovery programs and
commercial services but you may end up paying big bucks to get this
data readable!
