Access2003 report cumulative total only picks up value from last page break.

I have a report in access 2003 that shows values
and has a second field with a running sum over group of
that value
The Running Sum displays correctly
BUT when used in a formula it is only the value at the
top of the page that is used.
The same report in Access 2002 works as I would expect,
picking up the last value of the running sum.

What is different in Access 2003 to cause this to happen?

Eg 1.
Value RunSum
100 100
100 200
100 300
New page
100 400
100 500
100 600

In Access 2003 RunSum=400
In Access 2002 RunSum=600

Eg 2.
Value RunSum
100 100
100 200
100 300
100 400
100 500
100 600

In Access 2003 RunSum=600
In Access 2002 RunSum=600

I am experiencing the same issue. I have a reference in a report footer to a
running sum field in the detail of a reports. Access 2003 is picking up the
first instance of the running sum on the last page, not the last instance of
the running sum on the last page as was the case in Access 2000. Also, the
running sum reference in a report footer only picks up the running sum total
of the first group, where the footer reference to the running sum in Access
2000 picked up the running sum total accross all groups. The running sum
field in the detail section is working fine, it's referencing a running sum
in a report footer in the "control source" property that unfortunately seems
to have changed between the versions.

I have to pre-note most of my reports to senior executive of a bank
mentioning the report totals are not correct anymore and provide them with
manual totals exported to excel.
