accessing addresses from previous install

I had to reformat my drive and reinstalled outlook (2003) on Windows XP. I
got my email ok but my address book isn't showing up. I know where it is
and thought I'd pointed to it, but it's not happening.

I've asked this before, but I can't remember the answer. How do I get my
addresses? Thanks a bunch. Diana

All of your data including contacts is stored in a file with a .PST
extension. Search your hard drive for all .PST files -- since you're using
Windows XP you should include hidden folders in your search parameters. Once
you find the right file, open it in Outlook using File | Open | Outlook Data
File.

Excellent! That worked. I knew where it was (I keep all my data files on a
separate harddrive), but I wasn't accessing that component correctly. All
the email came across, but the contacts stayed behind.

Thanks so much Jocelyn. I appreciate it.

There's no way you can see all your mail but not your contacts, since
they're all kept in the same file. What I suspect is that you had not
reenabled your Contacts folder as an address book.
