accessing content in fields

I am very new to this.

I have a field code in a word document like
{ INCLUDETEXT "Agent_Update/About_Network_Login.htmxxx" \*
MERGEFORMAT }

I want to build a macro that removes this field and in its place
leaves just the directory and filename without the xxx at the end.

Any help would be appreciated as I know so little about VBA I haven't
any idea how to proceed

In your case, you would also want to remove the "xxx" by adding one more
Replace statement,

strFName = Replace(strFName, _
"xxx", "")
