Accessing one's PST file across the Internet

Hello all;

I have my main PST file on my home network and use Outlook for
everything it can do. What would be the best way to make use of my PIM
data from a remote location that uses a dial-up Internet connection?

My first thought is to open a VPN connection, and using another Outlook
client installation at the remote site, to simply open my PST file
across the Internet. Because my remote connection will be using
dial-up Internet access, I think this would be a cumbersome prospect.

What other ways are there to use one's Outlook calendar, tasks, etc.
data from a remote location? I just need a point in the right
direction to get me going and I will pick up the details.

I have heard of Outlook Web Access (OWA). This requires an Exchange
server, I believe. I would like to avoid that if possibe. If there is
no other way, then there is no other way :). But, I would like to see
if there is a solution I can live with that has a minimal footprint.

Thanks,

Remote Desktop in Windows XP Pro or a third party solution like GoToMyPC.
You can't expect to open your PST file directly across a slow WAN link (and
PST files are not to be accessed from anything other than your local hard
drive, or you will have problems).
